The International Workshop on Engineering Intelligent, Trustworthy, and Secure Internet of Things (IoT) Systems (SYNERGY 2023)

Call for Papers

Welcome to the inaugural workshop on Engineering Intelligent, Trustworthy, and Secure Internet of Things (IoT) Systems, SYNERGY 2023! This workshop aims to bring together a forum for experts, researchers, and practitioners from academia and industry to share their insights, ideas and experiences on the design, development and deployment of intelligent, trustworthy and secure IoT systems. The workshop forum allows a discussion on the latest advancements, challenges, for example, and opportunities in the field of IoT systems and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and paves way for the exploration of innovative approaches and solutions that can address the pressing issues.

The convergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) has ushered in a new era of innovative systems and services, commonly referred to as AIoT, in critical domains such as transportation, healthcare, building automation, and other essential infrastructure. AIoT systems have revolutionized data collection, processing, and decisionmaking by significantly reducing response times compared to human-dependent systems. However, these systems must be secure, preserve data privacy, and be trustworthy for human users to fully embrace them. Security is a crucial component of an AIoT system’s trustworthiness, alongside availability, accuracy, integrity, scalability, privacy, and reliability.

  • Novel techniques for evaluating AIoT systems’ trustworthiness.
  • Security challenges in AIoT systems
  • Software architectures and approaches for engineering trustworthy AIoT systems.
  • Security and privacy for AIoT systems.
  • Trustworthy deployment of AIoT systems across the Edge-Cloud continuum.
  • Human interaction with AIoT systems.
  • Trustworthy adaptations for AIoT systems.
  • Data collection and processing techniques for large-scale AIoT systems.
  • Blockchain for AIoT systems.
  • Testbeds for AIoT systems.
  • Routing protocols to ensure communication efficiency for AIoT systems.
  • Secure edge computing for AIoT systems
  • Engineering secure IoT and IIoT systems
  • Secure and trustworthy data sharing in IoT ecosystems
  • Secure cross-devices Federated Learning, smart cities applications.
  • Federated Learning for IoT Forensics
  • Attack detection and mitigation in AIoT
